2022 PEP Learning Modules & Toolkit

Target Audience
Pharmacists

Description

As of February 1, 2022, immunizing pharmacists in North Carolina now have the authority to dispense post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) medications for the prevention of HIV to patients pursuant to standing order. This new authority marks a long-awaited win for our profession and addresses a clear public health need that will undoubtedly provide great value to our patients. While there is no requirement for advanced training per the NCBOP, this training will help prepare pharmacists for this practice-advancing opportunity.

NCAP is pleased to bring you a NC-CE accredited virtual learning experience specifically designed to meet the needs of pharmacists as they begin dispensing post-exposure prophylaxis under this new authority. It includes topics such as HIV overview, PEP pharmacotherapy, cultural competency, and a review of the standing order.

The toolkit will aid pharmacists in developing services that meet both statutory and NCBOP rules to begin practicing under this new authority, while also offering an organized database of resources to support their knowledge and enhance patient care.
