MEDICATION THERAPY MANAGEMENT TRAINING
Pharmacist-provided medication therapy management services (MTMS) are emerging as an important part of patient care. in conjunction with the dispensing of medications. Community Care Rx (CCRx) is currently the only Medicare-approved drug discount card that offers reimbursement to pharmacists for MTMS (through the CCRx contracted administrator, Outcomes Pharmaceutical Healthcare). Since the NC Senior Care card is managed by CCRx, MTMS services can be offered to all Senior Care patients, and pharmacists can be paid for helping these patients manage the cost and effectiveness of their prescriptions.Upon successful completion of this CE program, pharmacists will be eligible to bill and be reimbursed for the MTMS they provide to CCRx patients and will be prepared to participate in MTMS in 2006.
